4 Ways to Buy Cheap Las Vegas Show Tickets

April 11th, 2010

Las Vegas show tickets are just like any other tickets when it comes to getting good deals. Many basic variables determine the price you pay but it all comes down to the law of supply and demand. If you’ve studied basic economics you’d know that the law of supply and demand basically says that given the same supply of some product or service, in this case, Vegas show tickets, the more demand there are (number of people who want these tickets), the higher the prices are going to be in general. And similarly, given the same demand, the more supply there are (number of tickets available for a given show), the lower the prices would be.

Knowing this basic law of economics, you can purchase Las Vegas show tickets in your favor. For an event that isn’t too popular, the demand is not very high, thus the price would be lower when compared to an event that is extremely popular. Obviously, every market (type of show) is different when it comes to base pricing, so it’s only valid when comparing similar types of events.

So what do you do when you are determined to see a hot show that is in high demand, meaning that a lot of people want to see it? While the prices would tend to be high in general, you can still use the law of economics to purchase the tickets at a cheaper rate. Try one of the ways below:

1) Try not to see your favorite Las Vegas show during the weekends where the demand would naturally be higher than other times. Since there are less people wanting to see shows on weekdays (generally speaking), weekday prices would generally be lower.

2) If you aren’t 100% set on seeing a particular show, you can select several possible shows you’d be interested in seeing, and on the day you would like to see one of those shows, call the venue or check with a “50% off tickets” type of brokers and see what show(s) have unsold tickets. Since these tickets or open seats would otherwise go to waste and not make them any money, they would likely let them go for a much cheaper price. Often times 50% or more. This could even work a day before the event sometimes.

3) Combine 1 & 2 together, then you have an even better chance of getting dirt-cheap tickets!

4) Show around ahead of time on sites like stubhub.com or ticketmaster.com or similar broker sites to get a good sense of what the normal prices are. Even by doing so you’d already be able to find good deals, as some brokers have better prices on certain shows than others due to their relationships and volume with the venues. Sometimes you need to shop around and get the tickets ahead of time because you cannot afford to miss a show on your pre-planed vacation, and if that’s the case, you cannot do the last minute gamble (method #2), and must take your time to shop around at least a month before your trip just in case a hot show gets sold out on the only day you can watch it.

So there you have it. Basically, the more flexible you are in your schedule, the better deals on Vegas show tickets you can get, as you can tap into the better end of the market in light of the law of supply and demand.
